"if there is one thing we can agree on buying no matter how broke we are, it's movies"

First off, so sorry we have been MIA for so long, do you remember our last post about how we went celebrating for Shannon's new job, well school has started back, and with that and two other jobs, Shannon has been a bit MIA all together.

We went to Carolina Thrift last night, looking for costumes for Halloween. We will be headed to New York next week for Shannon's best friend's wedding! So we wanted to get a jump on it before everyone already took the good stuff. Being's we are going to New York, we wanted to do something cheap. Shannon gave herself a new haircut, and reminds me a lot of Rachael from Glee...and I myself look a lot like Finn, so we decided why not be them this year. It's super cheap! Carolina's Thrift is huge! We looked through all the dresses, Rachael seems to have a vintage flare with her wardrobe, and is always wearing dresses so that was our main focus. Finn always is wearing a Varsity jacket so with hopes we searched for something similar for me as well. When Shannon was trying on her dresses, which none worked, I found a secret treasure room. All the old movies and books! Each only $1.00! We scored "Goosebumps, Haunted Mask", "The Grinch", "Hoosiers", "Jingle All the Way", and a couple others. Often times we seem to lay low on the shopping since I have yet to find my big boy job, but we never disagree to splurging on movies, especially classics, for a $1.00!

We headed home and made Pasta a la Vodka with the world's best salad, that's right, and garlic bread. Topping it all off with Natty Green's Buckshot Pale Ale.

life is good.

7/29/11 -- out on the town

friday night we went downtown to celebrate shannon's new big girl job (we're still working on ryne's little boy job) which we will now be married to weddings, because shannon will be planning weddings at behind the scenes, inc. and ryne will be helping set up. we finally tried out the mellow mushroom, which we didn't expect anything less than perfect. we had red oak and black magic to drink, followed by a delicious buffalo chicken pizza with bacon and onions. we love mellow mushroom's bacon because it is real bacon, not just fake crumbles. with all the chandeliers it gave off a harry potter ambiance. we read about this museum across the street, elsewhere, that shannon had went to sketch at years before. as we were walking over we were approached by a man asking for money to buy a cold beer. we said we didn't have any cash and took a mental note of what living downtown would be like. the museum was filled with mass amounts of fabric organized by color across an entire wall. organizing by color seemed to be the theme as other objects were also organized this way. we only took a brief walk-through because the museum had already closed, but an artist was nice enough to let us in anyway. this artist was one of the many artists who live in the museum during summer, designing installations from things inside the museum. after leaving elsewhere, we stopped at cheesecakes by alex, a place shannon had been dying to try for years. we got a slice of kahula espresso cheesecake. shannon enjoyed it very much. ryne didn't. kitty was at home, and can't eat cheese. so we didn't save any for him. soon after we headed home, made a pallet of blankets on the floor in the living room, and ryne enjoyed "grumpy old men" while shannon quickly fell asleep. which she often does.

the end.
